Facilitating versus managing.

We know you still have to induct and train new people - so we have baked in all the admin features you would expect; adding users, locations & teams, setting up courses, adding permissions, notifications and reports. All elegantly designed to facilitate and liberate learning versus managing it.

Knowledge is king.

Capturing peoples knowledge is at the heart of Sideways. Sideways banks knowledge using modern media; video, audio, images, docs, even links to external content. Uploading knowledge starts with the business banking things people need to know, but then leverages what our people know, to support and nurture inclusive, continuous learning.

Core features.
Sideways

Shifting learning content ‘left and right’ so learners make sense of it with each other; socially appreciating, commenting, building upon, and ultimately shaping into new learning.

Courses

Knowledge is surfaced from the bank into structured learning modules - individuals, locations or teams are assigned and progress is tracked and reported.

Bank

Adding knowledge to the bank is key to everything. First by the business, then by any anyone, for everyone.

Search

Learners can quickly find relevant content when they need it - and then learn it, use it, playlist it, or socialise it.

Ask

If there’s a knowledge gap, learners can ask others - their peers, their teams, or the business at large. People respond with answers, which can be banked to increase the total knowledge pool.

Playlists

People can create learning playlists around personalised themes and follow individuals who are specific knowledge experts.

Asking for help.

Giving people permission to, and building behaviours around, asking for help is one of the simplest ways to plug knowledge gaps. People want to help, all you have to do is ask, people don’t know what you need till you tell them. This one act can save a business thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars every single year.

We’re making Fans of Learning.

Not all learning is ‘have to’ we know learners ‘want to’ too. We have followed other successful media trends and added playlists to our core offering. Learners can follow content, other learners, and playlist learning to read, watch or listen too at a time that suits. Letting people choose, what, how, and who they want to learn new things from.
